Introduction to our teaching
The following is a summary of what we believe and teach at Loree. It is by no means complete or detailed. It is as the title suggests, an introduction.
Jesus is the Center of the Universe, The Church and of mankind. Jesus Christ is God’s one and only Son, conceived by the Holy Spirit. He died in our place making a onetime atoning sacrifice for the world; He was resurrected bodily from the grave and ascended into heaven. He continually intercedes for His people, and will return to earth personally and visibly to establish his Father’s Kingdom. (Isaiah 7:14, John 1:14, John 1:18, John 20:24-28, Romans 8:34, 1 Corinthians 15:3-8, 1 Corinthians 15:23-28, Philippians 2:5-11, Hebrews 1:2-3, 1 John 1:7).
God the Father
God the Father is an infinite personal spirit, perfect in holiness, wisdom, power, and love. He concerns Himself mercifully in the affairs of each person, He hears and answers prayer, and He saves from sin and death all who come to Him through Jesus Christ (Psalm 139, John 3:16-17).
The Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit came forth from the Father and the Son to convict the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment, and to regenerate, sanctify, and empower all who believe in Jesus Christ. He lives every in believer in Christ, and He is a constant helper, teacher and guide, specifically revealing the truth of God’s Word and pointing people to the knowledge of the Son. (John 14:26, John 16:7-15, Romans 8:14-17, 1 Corinthians 12:1-13, Ephesians 1:13-14).
The three persons, Father, Son and Holy Spirit together make the Trinity. This means there is one living and true God, eternally existing in three persons who are equal in every divine perfection, and who execute distinct but harmonious offices in the work of creation, providence, and redemption (Deuteronomy 6:4, Luke 3:21-22, 1 Peter 1:2).
The Bible is the Word of God, fully inspired and written under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, and it has supreme authority in all matters of faith and life. (Romans 15:4, 2 Timothy 3:15-17, 2 Peter 1:19-21).
All people are sinners by nature and by choice and are, therefore, under condemnation. Those who repent of their sins and surrender their lives to Jesus by faith are saved and regenerated by the Holy Spirit (John 1:12-13, John 3:3, 16-17, Titus 3:5).
In the Bible the term “The Church” means two things. The Universal Church is the living spiritual body of which Christ is the head and all believing persons are members. A local church is an organized body of believers in Jesus Christ, baptized on a credible confession of faith, and associated for worshiping, growing, serving and for fellowship.
The Purpose of the Church
God has laid upon the members of the local church the primary task of giving the gospel of Jesus Christ to a lost world (Matthew 16:16-18, Matthew 28:19-20, Acts 2:38-41, Ephesians 2:19-22, Ephesians 4:12-16, 2 Corinthians 5:17-21, Hebrews 10:24-25).
